VP, Marketing & Communications
You own the story. Brand, marketing, public relations, and communications for a carrier with a genuinely different story to tell: union-built, operated for the public benefit, permanent-hold, generational infrastructure. Earned media is our growth engine, and you run it.
This is a hands-on founding role. While we are lean, you do the work yourself: write the release, place the story, build the brand, run the campaign. You get the lay of the land, prove what works, then hire the right team around what you have learned.
What you'll do:
- Own brand, marketing, PR, and communications strategy, and execute it personally while we are lean.
- Build the earned-media engine: press relationships, story placement, and the labor and public-benefit narrative.
- Run demand generation and subscriber growth across markets.
- Manage external communications, crisis comms, and public affairs alongside our regulatory and CWA partners.
- Own the brand voice across web, social, field, and community.
- Once the playbook is proven, hire and lead the marketing and communications team.
- Report growth and brand metrics to the CEO.
What we're looking for:
- 10+ years in marketing and communications, with senior leadership and a player-coach mindset.
- Genuinely hands-on: you still write, pitch, and build.
- Track record building brands and earning press, ideally in telecom, infrastructure, energy, or mission-driven companies.
- Strong PR and public-affairs instincts; comfortable with labor, community, and regulatory audiences.
- Demand-generation and growth-marketing range, plus brand.
- You can make a fiber company a story people root for, and do it lean before you scale a team.
