ClearBeam Networks is an independently owned telecommunications company building modern phone service for homes and businesses. Founded by Tim Semakula in Seattle, ClearBeam combines the reliability of traditional phone service with smart features designed for how families actually live today. The company's flagship product, HomeStation, is a residential home phone service built for the growing number of parents choosing screen-free alternatives for their kids.
ClearBeam provides voice service nationwide over its own network, from geographically distributed points of presence in Oregon and Virginia with automatic failover between them. The company is bootstrapped with zero advertising spend, growing entirely through word of mouth and press coverage. ClearBeam is a metro and rural telephone and broadband provider and a Washington competitive local exchange carrier (UTC Docket UT-250954, granted) and builds Active Ethernet fiber. ClearBeam internet now serves Kitsap County and Seattle, with projects underway in Idaho, Utah, and New Mexico.
In an era of big telecom consolidation, ClearBeam represents something different: a small, independent phone company that believes reliable voice service still matters.
Tim started in lighting at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle at age 13. While in college he interned at US West Communications and worked at McCaw Cellular One. After college he moved to Microsoft and Mindspring. In 2007 he founded FulcrumPoint, a managed service provider he ran for 18 years. In 2013, as IT director for Bumbershoot, he saw the tour buses behind the venue and knew he had unfinished business from when he was 13. FulcrumPoint's customers were migrated to ClearBeam's managed services in 2025. He then spent a decade as a touring lighting designer for Sheryl Crow, Earth, Wind & Fire, Def Leppard, the Black Crowes, Kid Cudi, and K.Flay. He started building ClearBeam while still on the road. Tim launched ClearBeam Networks as an independent Washington competitive local exchange carrier in 2025.
Residential home phone service starting at $9.99/month. No contract, no hidden fees, all taxes included. Features include Kid Safe Numbers, Call Screening, Quiet Hours, Voicemail Transcription, E911, STIR/SHAKEN caller ID verification, and Wellness Check-ins for elderly family members.
Cloud phone service for small and mid-size businesses. Multi-line, auto-attendant, and professional features built on ClearBeam's own network infrastructure.
Call queues with callback, a browser console with a built in phone, agent login from desk phones, cells, or the browser, and queue hours with after hours greetings, on ClearBeam's own nationwide voice network.
Private networks ClearBeam designs, builds with its own crews, and runs for events, venues, touring productions, temporary sites, and tribal and rural communities, with isolated networks for each function and 24/7 monitoring. In 2026 ClearBeam built and ran the network for Capitol Hill Block Party in six days.
Wholesale voice connectivity for businesses and carriers running their own PBX systems. Direct network peering across ClearBeam's points of presence.
